Getting started
Import a recipe
There are three ways to bring a recipe into More Garlic:
- Scan it. Tap the camera and photograph a cookbook page or printed recipe. The text is read on your device into an editable card.
- Paste it. Paste a recipe URL or a block of recipe text and the app reads it into a card.
- Share it. From Safari or another app, use the iOS Share Sheet and choose More Garlic to send a recipe straight in.
Build a shopping list
Open a recipe and add it to your list. More Garlic turns the ingredients into a grocery list grouped by store aisle — produce, dairy, pantry, and so on — so you can shop in one lap. Check items off as you go.
Combine recipes into one trip
Add as many recipes as you like to the same list. More Garlic merges duplicate ingredients across them and tallies the totals, so a week of meals becomes a single, de-duplicated trip with less waste.
Scale servings
Change the number of servings on a recipe and every ingredient quantity recalculates automatically. Your shopping list updates to match.
Use Notes
Add your own notes to any recipe — swaps you made, cook times that worked, who liked it. Notes stay with the card and live only on your device.
Read the nutrition
Each recipe shows approximate per-serving nutrition, estimated on your device from bundled USDA reference data. Treat these as a helpful estimate, not an exact or medical figure.
Translate a foreign recipe
If a recipe is in another language, tap translate. More Garlic uses Apple's on-device translation across 10 languages, so the text is translated right on your iPhone. The first time you use a language, iOS may download that language pack from Apple.
The More Garlic button
Tap the More Garlic button on any recipe to double the garlic. It is exactly as serious as it sounds.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work offline?
Yes. More Garlic is designed to work fully offline and on-device. The only times it touches the internet are when you paste or share a web link (to fetch that recipe), for the system's on-device-translation language-pack download, and for the planned, off-by-default grocery hand-off.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. You can use everything right away.
What data do you collect?
None. No analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no data about you is collected. Your recipes, lists, and notes stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I send my list to Instacart?
A grocery hand-off to a service such as Instacart is planned. It is off by default and only runs if you choose to use it.
How many languages can it translate?
10 languages, using Apple's on-device translation. The recipe text is translated on your iPhone.
How do I delete all my data?
Delete the app from your iPhone. Because everything is stored on the device, removing the app removes its data.
Is the nutrition accurate?
It is a good approximation estimated on-device from bundled USDA data. Use it as a guide, not a precise or medical figure.
