Groove Number · Last updated July 1, 2026

Groove Number does all of its analysis on your device. Your audio is never uploaded, and we do not collect any personal data.

The short version

Microphone and audio

Groove Number uses the microphone only while you are actively using Live listening or recording a clip, and only to analyze sound on your device. Recordings you make stay on your device unless you choose to share them yourself. No audio is transmitted to us or to any server.

Song identification (optional)

If you use the optional song-identification feature, Groove Number creates an audio fingerprint — a mathematical signature, not your recording — and sends it to Apple's ShazamKit to identify the track, then shows the title and artist. Your raw audio is never sent. This fingerprint is processed by Apple and is not used by us to identify you or linked to any identity. See Apple's Music Recognition & Privacy notice for details.

Data collection

We do not collect data from this app. There are no accounts, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no servers. Under Apple's App Privacy definitions, this app's label is “Data Not Collected.”

Tracking

None. No data is used to track you across apps or websites, and there are no third-party advertising or analytics services.

Third parties

The only external service the app can touch is Apple's ShazamKit (a first-party Apple framework), and only for optional song identification as described above.

Children

Groove Number is rated 4+ and is a general-audience tool. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
